Great News from Hobart and William Smith Colleges (HWS)!

Center for Community Engagement and Service-Learning (CCESL) is thrilled to announce our FREE virtual tutoring program through HWS Corps to help assist local youth as they start their academic year next week. We know how challenging the pandemic has been for parents, teachers and students, and we wanted to make sure we were ready to help this fall.

Our HWS Tutors, many of whom are returning America Reads tutors, will have extra training in literacy. However, we will prepare them to support students K-12 in whatever ways we can! Our goal is to offer local students/parents two 45-minute tutoring sessions a week over Zoom, starting as early as September 14th and going through November 20, 2020. K-2 students may struggle with sitting for online tutoring, but 2nd grade and up will be a great fit.

We are focused on safety too! We will record all tutoring sessions, and all HWS tutors have done HWS’ Minors on Campus training, as well as have had a background check. Please visit our new HWS Corps Tutoring website to learn more, and then request a tutor! We have worked in partnership with Geneva City School District to roll out this resource. If a teacher recommends your student (instructions are on the site), we will put your student on the priority list! Kindly forward this email or like/share our social media posts to help spread the word (HWS_CCESL on facebook and Instagram)

This program is FREE for families and is a helpful way for HWS students to earn money to help pay for school. Spots are limited: https://www2.hws.edu/hws-corps-virtual-tutoring/
