Human Trafficking Awareness
In recognition of National Slavery & Human Trafficking Prevention Month, the Office of Mental Health (OMH) urges you to learn the facts about human trafficking in New York State.
* There were more than 1,500 confirmed cases of human trafficking in New York State from 2007 to 2019.
* Last year, 62% of confirmed cases occurred outside of New York City, with the largest percentages in
Westchester and Western NY.
* Human trafficking is an under reported crime, meaning there’s probably a lot more cases of trafficking than we
know about.
